As we said during the trial, if left in office, the president will not stop trying to cheat in the next election until he succeeds. We must make sure he does not. Republican leadership in the Senate had the power to conceal the president’s full misconduct during the trial by disallowing witnesses and documents, but they cannot keep the full, ugly truth of the president’s conduct, and that of all the president’s men, from the American people. Not for long. […] Because of the impeachment process, voters can now stand forewarned of the lengths to which the president will go to try to secure his reelection, violating the law and undermining our national security and that of our allies. By denying the American people a fair trial, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) also deprived the president of something that he desperately sought — exoneration. There can be no exoneration without a legitimate trial. Out of fear of what they would learn, the Senate refused to hold one. The president will not be vindicated, and neither will the Senate, certainly not by history.”
The WaPo opinion piece from the House Impeachment Managers hits home the truth about the coverup job that McConnell and the GOP (sans Romney) did to protect an obvious guilty criminal from being removed from office.
Sad I have to write this out, but abuse and trauma have zero benefits to anyone’s life. You can learn anything the kind way. You can become anyone the kind way. There is no reason whatsoever to traumatize you. Everything can be done without abuse.

The premise of minimum wage, when it was introduced, was that a single wage earner should be able to own a home and support a family. That was what it was based on; a full time job, any job, should be able to accomplish this.
The fact people scoff at this idea if presented nowadays, as though the people that ring up your groceries or hand you your burgers don’t deserve the luxury of a home and a family, is disgusting.
Also if a livable wage breaks the system then the system deserves to be broken.
I also hate it when people are like, “But what about small businesses, not mega-corporations like McDonald’s! My Uncle Shitty McFuckface had a small business with 15 people employed, and when they hiked up the minimum wage and made him supply them with medical care, he couldn’t, and he went out of business!”
Like, good? He was making his living off of 15 people not being paid for their time so THEY could live. His shitty business should fail if it can’t make enough to pay its employees for their work. That’s how businesses work.
